The PS4.5, also known as the PS4 Neo, the next big thing in Sony's console department, could be revealed at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 after all.

During the earnings call of retailer Gamestop, COO Tony Bartel said that the company expects the convention to focus on "key titles in the back half of the year and console announcements."

This had many expecting that upgrades to the Xbox One and PS4, as what recent reports have been suggesting, will be made official at the E3 and that includes the so-called PS4.5 (PS4 Neo).

According to Polygon, the PS4.5 (PS4 Neo) will boast more than double the power of the current iteration of the Sony console, which generates 1.84 teraflops. That being said, the upgraded version should come with a whopping 4.14 teraflops.

The PS4's performance is also revered by many gamers and has often been the reason it sells better than Microsoft's Xbox One. If the PS4.5 (PS4 Neo) will indeed double that, gamers will definitely be able to play games at pristine framerate and resolution.

However, the same site reports that the new Xbox console dubbed as the Xbox Two Scorpio will be boasting 6 teraflops. If this will be the case, it looks like Microsoft will finally eliminate the gap it has between Sony on the visual side of things.

There is also word that the PS4.5 (PS4 Neo) will run games at 4K resolution. To achieve that, it will make use of yet-to-be-revealed AMD chips. The new consoles by the competition will turn to AMD for processing as well, as per reports.

With higher performance and power, the new PS4 is also rumored to make the most out of Virtual Reality technology.

The PS4.5 (PS4 Neo) is expected to make its debut at the E3. Reports say it will also be released this year. There's no specific information on that yet although is believed that fans won't have to wait long for its arrival.
