Three years after "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," the second filmed instalment of C.S. Lewis' Narnia books is back on top of the box office.
"The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian," whisks the four Pevensie children back into the magical world to help Prince Caspian, played by Ben Barnes, in his struggle against his wicked uncle.
The film took 4.1 million pounds in its opening weekend, according to Screen International, and edged out another newcomer, action thriller "Wanted."
Starring James McAvoy and Angelina Jolie, "Wanted," with its storyline of an office deadbeat discovering he's a natural born killer, took 3.2 million pounds.
Third was last week's No. 1, "The Incredible Hulk," starring Edward Norton as the green meanie, while "Adulthood," the sequel to "Kidulthood" of 2006 stayed at four.
"Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull", with Harrison Ford back in the title role after nearly two decades, fell three places to five.
Also down three, at six, was "Sex and the City," the film version of the hit TV series featuring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis.
Dylan Thomas bioflick "The Edge of Love" with Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller was up two places at seven while apocalyptic thriller "The Happening", with Mark Wahlberg, fell from five to eight.
Spoof comedy "Superhero Movie", starring Leslie Nielsen and Pamela Anderson, was down in ninth spot from sixth.
New at 10 was the Bollywood version of Mary Poppins, "Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic."
