Bosses. Some of us get horrible leaders who don't really do anything except micromanage and pressure people. Some of us get good leaders but who are still imperfect in one area or another.

We all cry out for perfect leaders, but the reality is that we will never find them—at least not in human form.

What's the general response to a boss or leader who doesn't add up to the expectation we have? Most of us would probably complain at one point or another. I have to admit that I find myself complaining more than I should in the work place.

But Paul, however, urges in 1 Timothy 2:1-3, that, "First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Saviour."

There is power in prayer, we all know.

But do we apply that power in our professional lives and pray for our boss—for wisdom, good leadership, guidance, a new set of eyes or even a wake-up call every now and then?

You'll be surprised how much of your prayers your bosses need.

As we all know, there will never be a perfect leader. Yet sometimes we can act so surprised that our bosses aren't the superheroes we expect them to be. They aren't always nice, aren't always going to approve your budgets, and aren't always going to make the right decisions.

But as long as they are in charge, they will always be God's anointed.

Romans 13:1 urges us, "Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God."

Our bosses are God's authority represented on earth. And yes, they might not always do things God's way, but God will have His way through them whether they know it or not.

Our job is not to change our bosses and to tell them how to do their jobs. Our job is to submit to them and to pray for them. It's God's job to let His kingdom come and His will be done if we'd like to see Him do that.

We will never have a perfect boss on earth, but we will always have a perfect boss in God. At the end of the day, He's in charge of our companies, our jobs, our security and our purpose. When we trust in Him and come to Him in prayer and petition—even for our superiors—He will be the perfect boss you've been searching for all this time.
