With the upcoming "Power Rangers" movie reboot premiering in 2017, fans have hoped that the cast from the original 1990s television series would appear, at least in cameo roles. However, speaking to Audibly Exquisite, actor Walter Jones revealed that they were not invited to be in the film.

Jones, who played Zack Taylor, the Black Ranger, discussed his experience filming for the series, his favorite monsters in the show, and whether he or the other cast members were asked to be in the new movie, to which he explained that no cameos were going to be included.

"It's not likely. Unfortunately, we were not invited to be part of the film, which is confusing to me, but I'm excited for the film nevertheless," he explained.

During the interview, Jones also discussed his experience working with the late Thuy Trang who portrayed Trini Kwan the Yellow Ranger. Trang tragically died in a car accident back in 2001.

It is noted by Screen Rant that Jones did not accept an invitation for a 20th-anniversary show of the franchise in support of fellow "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" cast member David Yost, who did not attend the show as well. Yost played Billy Cranston, the Blue Ranger, and he had left the show, claiming he was bullied by cast and crew for being gay.

At the time being, it is uncertain if other cast members of the original show, such as Jason David Frank, Ashley Jo Johnson, and Austin St. John, were also not invited for the film. They had been invited for the aforementioned reunion show, but both St. John and Johnson declined for unknown reasons. Only Frank returned to reprise his role as Tommy Oliver, the Green Ranger, and later, the White Ranger.

The reboot film stars Bryan Cranston as Zordon, Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, RJ Cyler as the Blue Ranger, Becky G. as the Yellow Ranger and Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger.

"Power Rangers" is scheduled to open in theaters on March 24, 2017.
