While Nintendo and The Pokemon Company have been silent about a potential "Pokemon Z," fans have continued to speculate that it is indeed the next major entry in the critically acclaimed franchise. A recent post on Serebii even points out that a big announcement, perhaps the game's release date, is scheduled for next month.

The December issues of CoroCoro magazine is notable for giving fans a sneak peak at upcoming "Pokemon" movies scheduled for the following year or the next season of the hit "Pokemon" TV series. However, according to the report, it is possible that the magazine issue this year will focus on either "Pokemon Z" or "Pokemon Go."

"Pokemon Go," the mobile augmented reality game being co-developed by Niantics for iOS and Android devices, is expected to release in 2016, although no specific release date has been given at this point. "Pokemon Z," on the other hand, has been speculated but there is no confirmation it even exists or is in active development.

If the report concerning the December issue of CoroCoro proves true then it is likely fans will finally get an answer on when either of the two may releae. However, the release date may simply be for the Japanese audience unless it specifically states a global release date or a separate date for releasing the titles in the West.

While little to no information on "Pokemon Z" has been given out, fans speculate that CoroCoro magazine will reveal a 2016 release date. This is because Feb. 27, 2016 will mark the twentieth anniversary for the "Pokemon" franchise and it is very possible The Pokemon Company and Nintendo will take full advantage of the celebration to release a new game.

No plot or new Pokemon creatures have been released thus for "Pokemon Z," although different forms of Zygarde have been showcased on CoroCoro before and the "Pokken Tournament" arcade fighting game now includes a "Shadow Mewtwo" that was unseen in any of the original titles. Both may make it to "Pokemon Z."
