Phaedra Parks proceeded with her divorce from husband Apollo Nida on Sunday's episode of "Real Housewives of Atlanta," and relied on her confidant, Sarah Jakes for support.

Parks and Nida have been married since 2009, and have faced very public marital and legal problems.

Nida is currently in federal prison in Lexington, Kentucky serving an eight-year sentence for mail, bank, and wire fraud. Parks revealed on Sunday that the couple had troubles before her husband's conviction, however.

She confided in Jakes that there was "never a peaceful night's sleep" because Nida was "always getting into fights." Despite the pain of having the father of her two sons in prison, she said she no longer lives "in fear of 'what has Apollo done, what will he do next?'"

"I can go to sleep knowing that he's not going to hurt himself or hurt anybody around him," she added in her confessional.

"I said I would support him through the criminal trouble," she cried. "I should have probably left then."

While castmembers Kandi Burruss and NeNe Leakes are friends of Parks, the attorney chose to turn to the daughter of Bishop TD Jakes for comfort during the difficult time.

"We have a God connection," Parks said of Sarah Jakes. "I feel like I can be totally transparent because I know she doesn't have an ulterior motive."

The reality star also relied on her mentor, fellow attorney Ronnie Kaplan, to make sure her legal affairs were in order. She was assured that Nida's prenuptial agreement was "airtight," but Kaplan also wanted to make sure her four- and one-year-old boys were being considered.

"They need to have as much contact as possible with their dad," he told his mentee.

"Real Housewives of Atlanta" airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
