'Persona 5' release date updates: Phantom Thieves' code names, official guide book cover revealed; Game all set for September release in Japan

"Persona" fans are in for a surprise. Developer Atlus has updated the official Japanese website of "Persona 5," revealing several things regarding its upcoming game. The company has put up the code names of the Phantom Thieves, the cover of the official guide book and screenshots of some of the gameplay. Gamers in Japan will be able to get the game starting Sept. 15, while the rest of the world will get it by Feb. 14 of next year.

Translated by Gematsu, the code names of the masked vigilantes are:

  • Protagonist – Joker
  • Ryuji Sakamoto – Skull
  • Anne Takamaki – Panther
  • Morgana – Mona
  • Yusuke Kitagawa – Fox
  • Makoto Niijima – Queen
  • Futaba Sakura – Navi
  • Haru Okumura – Noir

Additionally, the publication also showed several screen shots of the game, including the Palace, where players can climb scaffolds, scale the walls or jump across the chandeliers by pressing the Circle button. A Direct Command screen shows the different attacks that a player can have while battling it out with supernatural enemies.

The cover of the "Person 5 Official Guide Book" was also revealed by Atlus, which will be released simultaneously with the game. The 256-page book will cover information about the students and Phantom Thieves, Persona and Shadow details and several more, Persona Central added. It is now available on Amazon Japan for pre-orders.

Meanwhile, Amazon U.S. is also offering pre-orders of the game's "Take Your Heart" Premium Edition for US$89.96. The package includes SteelBook Collectible Case, Soundtrack CD, 4" Morgana Plush, 64-page Hardcover Art Book, School Bag and Collectible Outer Box.
