"The Originals" season 3 will finally delve into the early years of the original vampires, with Klaus and the group meeting their own scions. And according to executive producer Julie Plec, it will be done via flashbacks.

"We have a whole series of flashbacks over the first chapter that tell the story of the Originals' first year as vampires before the word 'vampire' had even been assigned to them," Plec told Entertainment Weekly.

She added that fans will see the originals exploring their abilities, figuring out where to fit in, and going by the manners of a cultured unit.

"Within those flashbacks, we see the origin story of each of The Trinity, and we understand why The Trinity themselves might have reason to be a little pissed off at our hero family," the EP said.

The Trinity includes the respective vampires Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah sired.

The emergence of Lucien, Klaus' progeny, will be very friendly. But regardless of how he arrives, his presence merely invites chaos. Actor Joseph Morgan, who plays Klaus, said that their relationship is bound to be complicated and fans will see that play out in season 3.

After revealing that they owe their progenies as much as their progenies owe them and that the bond between them remains intact, the actor said in a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly that there's trouble brewing.

"There's also this element that it's not just the three of them but they're in contact with a lot of the sire line for each of us so it's like, 'Hey, remember us? All those vampires that you turned who you've now abandoned? Well guess what, we're not too happy about that and here's why,'" Morgan explained.

"The Originals" season 3 airs Oct. 8 and apart from the arrival of the progenies, fans will see Klaus and Elijah's relationship worsen.
