OnePlus, the company that was responsible for rolling out the 'Nexus killer' known as the OnePlus One, plans on rolling out a device that is neither going to be a smartphone, wearable or tablet. According to PhoneArena, the tech firm's CEO, Carl Pei was seen trotting around the Mobile World Congress 2015 event, which no doubt means that the executive must have leaked the news to someone regarding the company's plans to branch out to other categories.

In addition to what the company's mysterious product is going to be, OnePlus has yet to announce the successor to the OnePlus One smartphone, which is rumored to be called OnePlus Two. Carl Pei had mentioned back in January that the upcoming smartphone will be extremely different and is going to surprise people. OnePlus recently launched its power bank, which carries an extremely competitive price tag of $14.99.

According to the information posted by PhoneArena, the firm is losing $0.50 per power bank sold since it is focused on marketing its name. As for the mysterious device, Pei stated that it is not going to be tablet, since that particular product category is not doing so well in terms of sales performance due to increased phablet sized smartphone sales. Currently, the OnePlus One is retailing for $299 for the 16 GB version and $349 for the 64 GB one.

While better smartphones packing improved hardware specifications and price tag have been released, OnePlus' introduction to the smartphone market has definitely put major league giants like Samsung and Apple on their knees. It is expected that the successor of the OnePlus One will be announced during Q2 2015 and as expected, it will feature better hardware specifications that will provide improved mobile performance and flexibility for consumers.
