'Once Upon a Time' season 6 air date, spoilers: The Dragon returns

Tzi Ma returns as The Dragon in 'Once Upon a Time' season 6

He might have lost his heart, but The Dragon is alive and well in "Once Upon a Time" season 6.

Entertainment Weekly revealed that "24" alum Tzi Ma will reprise his role as the healer known as The Dragon in the sixth installment of ABC's fairy tale series.

The Dragon was first assumed to be dead in season 2 after Tamara (Sonequa Martin-Green) killed him when she found out that he practices magic for healing. But he managed to survive Tamara's attack and relocated in New York City's Chinatown where he was spotted by Regina (Lana Parilla) and Mr. Gold (Robert Carlyle).

After helping the Storybrooke heroes in saving their loved ones in the Underworld, Regina's dark alter-ego, the Evil Queen, reappeared and ripped out The Dragon's heart to prove to her counterpart that she is back and determined to end their war once and for all.

But since the Evil Queen already has The Dragon's heart, it could mean that he might be under her control. Will the Evil Queen use the healer in her battle against Regina?

Meanwhile, series creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis told TV Guide that the viewers will immediately learn the connection between Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and Aladdin (Deniz Akdeniz) in the premiere episode of "Once Upon a Time" season 6.

"We learn very quickly that Aladdin was once a savior, just like Emma. There is a direct connection between what Aladdin went through in our version of the tale, and what Emma goes through in her story," Horowitz said.

According to the report, the sixth season will explore the fate of the saviors since they tend to give their everything until there is nothing left for them. Kitsis, on the other hand, shared another similarity between the two saviors. "We've seen in the past that Emma's Jafar was always the Evil Queen. Now that she's out there somewhere, I would be worried about that," the series co-creator said.

"Once Upon a Time" season 6 is slated to premiere on Sunday, Sept. 25, at 8 p.m ET on ABC.
