NVIDIA Pascal GP104 GPU release date: GTX 1080, GTX 1070 showcase set for May 6 reveal of 'Battlefield 5'

The new breeds of the highly anticipated NVIDIA Pascal GP104 GPU are expected to be unveiled later this week. These new graphics cards are dubbed the GTX 1080 and GTX 1070.

The gadgets will then be available for purchase from stores as early as next month. To demonstrate the power of the NVIDIA Pascal GP104 GPU cards, they will be showcased this week powering up "Battlefield 5."

For the collaboration, EA DICE especially set a special world premiere event for the highly anticipated shooter the same day the GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 will see the light of day.

"Battlefield 5" is expected to be stellar in the visuals department. If the NVIDIA Pascal GP104 GPU cards are behind this graphics magic, then the GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 will be amazingly powerful graphics cards.

According to VR World, NVIDIA will be showcasing the NVIDIA Pascal GP104 GPU cards in addition to the GP106 editions, whose release date remains unclear at the moment, during a secret invent where only a few people are invited to participate.

Considered the successor of the GeForce GTX 980, the GTX 1080 will come in an 8GB GDDR5X memory while the GTX 1070 will come with a DDR5 8GB memory. This should be paired seamlessly with the GP104-200-A1.

The GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 are said to come with 2560 CUDA core chips. NVIDIA made tweaks on each cores to assure improved performance.

As per VR World, NVIDIA expects that the new Pascal GP-104 GPU-based cards will "bring the honey" and keep the money flowing for the company.

On the other hand, a so-called GTX 1060 Ti will allegedly be released as part of the NVIDIA Pascal GP-104 GPU as well, although this one will only have DDR5 6GB memory. According to Techfrag, this unit may not fare well against AMD's Polaris 10, rival to the GP-104 GPU family.
