"No Man's Sky" is currently slated to hit PlayStation 4 consoles sometime in 2015, but developer Hello Games has not yet given a definitive release date. A new report from CrossMap indicates, however, that the game may not hit store shelves until the first or second quarter of 2016. 

CrossMap cites an interview with Gamespot journalist Danny O'Dwyer with "Kinda Funny Gamecast," which is available to watch via YouTube. During the show, Danny discussed the release of "No Man's Sky," stating that his sources confirmed the game wouldn't be out until 2016. 

When asked via Twitter if Danny got the information from an insider or if it was just his speculation, he steered away and simply replied, "It was based on me being a journalist. That's all you get sadly. But it's pretty obvious it's a long way from being finished." 

"No Man's Sky" hasn't released any new gameplay footage and very little information has been released since it was first showcased in last year's Electronic Entertainment Expo. The game also won't be making an appearance in the 2015 E3 convention and it is speculated that Hello Games, including Hello Games founder and game programmer Sean Murray, is too busy working on "No Man's Sky" to attend the event. 

The title is a PS4-exclusive but according to a report from Gamespot, Xbox director Chris Charla stated, "I would love to see 'No Man's Sky' on the Xbox One, but that it was up to the game's developer, Hello Games." 

While the title is still only slated for the PlayStation 4, it is going to be available for PC owners afterwards. The mere announcement of a PC port gives hope for Microsoft fans, knowing that a PC port also indicates that an Xbox One version may be on the way. 

"No Man's Sky"  is an open-ended game where a player is given a ship and is allowed to travel to over 18 quintillion worlds to gather resources, meet local inhabitants, and gather materials to improve their ship. It will also allow for human and alien interaction in ways no other game has seen before.
