Nintendo has slowly been building the hype towards the release of their brand new next generation gaming console, formerly codenamed the Nintendo NX. Just recently, the company finally gave eager gamers a first look at their brand new console, now called the Nintendo Switch.

Previous reports claimed that the device could possibly rival offerings from Sony and Microsoft, namely the Sony PlayStation 4 Neo and the Microsoft Xbox Project Scorpio. While Nintendo has yet to fully reveal the hardware specifications of their upcoming new gaming system, some reports are claiming that the new handheld hybrid console may not really be a match for the aforementioned consoles, at least in terms of raw computing power.

Based on the recently released reveal teaser trailer for the new Nintendo Switch, the device's handheld component is basically a gaming tablet that simply docks into the a separate component to transform it into a console.

The tablet also looks to contain majority of the hardware, with reports claiming that it may contain a custom-made Tegra processor manufactured by NVIDIA. If this indeed true, then the Switch may not really be at par with other more dedicated consoles in terms of performance.

One of the main issues with the new chip is that third party developers may be having a hard time porting their older and newer games to the Nintendo's system seeing as that it would likely be running proprietary software, which could include a new physics engine, new libraries, tools, a new gaming API, and libraries.

A report from iTechPost, however, does give some consolation to concerned Nintendo fans. The report cites NVIDIA's recent showcase of their Tegra X1 Chip at the 2015 Consumers Electronics Show, with it being able to run "Doom 3: BFG Edition" at full HD 1080p resolution at a stable 60 frames per second without any framerate drops.
