Nexus 10 2 release date mystery continues; 8inch tablet in the works?

Both the Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping events have come and gone and there is still no sign of Google's Nexus 10 2 tablet.

The latest release date rumors had suggested that Google may launch its second-generation 10inch tablet on Cyber Monday (Dec. 2), but nothing happened.

Other rumors suggest that Google may ditch the 10inch tablet altogether and instead launch a slightly smaller slate at 8 or 9inch build. Android Origin reported that an unnamed Google exec said the Nexus 10 line will be discontinued after the current stock is sold out. (The 16GB version is already sold out on the Google Play store and the 32GB is expected to be out of stock soon.)

So far, there has been no official announcement from Google regarding the Nexus 10 2 tablet. The internet has been rife with rumors that it would launch quietly during the Thanksgiving shopping period at the Google Play Store.

In October, the product information had accidentally 'leaked' on tge Google Play Store, in the same fashion that the specs for the Nexus 5 handset had 'leaked.'

The product information such as price, features and specs were posted, confirming a 10-inch 2650x1600 display with gorilla glass, quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB RAM, 8 megapixel camera, 9500mAh battery, and a thinner and lighter design. The new tablet will of course come preinstalled with the Android 4.4 KitKat software.

Customers are indeed getting frustrated as many had been waiting to purchase the Nexus 10 2 over the holidays. Many of these Nexus fans that are tired of waiting are now turning to the Samsung Galaxy Tab slate, which is also a big contender in the tablet market.
