The new Nexus 10 2 is slated for a late-fall launch, around November, competing directly with Apple's iPad Air, which was launched at a media event on October 15, 2013.

Google has not announced anything official about the second-generation 10-inch Nexus tablet, but it seems that the specs have been confirmed by the tech giant as the product information has accidentally 'leaked' on its Play Store, in the same fashion that the specs for the Nexus 5 handset was 'leaked.'

The product information such as price, features and specs have been posted on the Google Play Store, confirming a 10-inch 2650x1600 display with gorilla glass, quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB RAM, 8 megapixel camera, 9500mAh battery, and a thinner and lighter design. The new tablet will of course launch with Android 4.4 KitKat.

However, there are some claims that the product information on the Google Play store are not legitimate and may be a hoax after all, with PhonesArena reporting that after more extensive research, "we believe that these are likely fake."

The Nexus 10 2 did not launch at the IFA Berlin 2013 as initially hoped, but it is likely to launch in November, before the Black Friday sales hype and holiday shopping period.

The second generation tablet is being manufactured by Asus instead of Samsung. The company also manufactures the smaller Nexus 7 device.

The current Nexus 10 features a 10-inch screen with 2560x1600 resolution in Corning Gorilla Glass 2. It is available with 16GB or 32GB internal storage, 2 GB ram, and dual-core A15 processor.

The first Google Nexus 10 is currently retailing for just $300 on some stores, down from $499. Based on the price drop, it is clear that retailers are clearing their inventory to make way for the second-generation tablet.

Meanwhile, Apple introduced the all new iPad Air earlier this month, which has a new design that is 20 percent thinner than the original iPad.

At just 7.4mm thin, it weighs only 1 pound and packs a new A-7 chip with 64-bit, which is powerful and energy-efficient. Because of this efficiency, the battery size has been reduced, making the product significantly lighter. The bezels have also been reduced.

The iPad Air has a 10-hour battery life, supports more LTE bands, and comes in silver/black and space-gray/black colors.

Full specs are as follows:

9.7-inch Retina display with over 3.1 million pixels

A7 chip - a powerful and power-efficient A7 chip with 64-bit architecture

Wireless -Up to 2x faster Wi-Fi performance using 802.11n with MIMO.4

The FaceTime cameras have also been improved and the device comes with a number of free apps.
