Arron Afflalo was someone New York Knicks fans wanted to see in action, but apparently all that has been shelved at least for now.

The new face in the Knicks' fold will reportedly miss a couple of preseason games with reports that the 29-year-old guard is nursing a hamstring injury.

Afflalo was signed up by the Knicks back in July after playing for the Portland Trail Blazers last year.

"It's a day-to-day kind of thing with a hamstring, you have to be very cautious with it,'' said associate head coach Kurt Rambis via the NY Post. "We want to make sure he's feeling really well before we throw him out for practice. We're going to bring him along slow. We want to be very cautious with him.''

With Afflalo yet to show his wares, the question of his role in the Knicks campaign in the coming season comes into mind.

His coming was seen as a positive development, reuniting him with resident star Carmelo Anthony. Both had played together with the Denver Nuggets from 2009 to 2011 and both are expected to bring back their connection in New York.

All hopes of seeing that will have to wait as Afflalo is in sick bay. Heading into the season, Afflalo could likely come off the bench for now until he, of course, gains the confidence from head coach Derek Fisher.

Such could likely be known once the regular season starts, seeing that there is no definite word on when the former University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) star will be officially back to 100% health.

And while Afflalo is on the mend, life goes on for the Knicks. Anthony is still expected to lead the charge alongside Jose Calderon and Robin Lopez.

On who will fill up the other slots remains up in the air for now, although all that could set in after the preseason games.
