There will be New York City bragging rights on the line in today's game, however, with both teams' Playoff hopes on the line and with both needing a late season push to ensure they grab a postseason berth, this one is sure to be a tense and hard-fought affair.

Giants fans will remember their team's 29-14 victory over the Jets in December 2011 - a result that spurred them on to go all the way to win the Super Bowl title months later. The victory sparked a six game win streak to end the season, with the final four of those wins coming in the postseason, with the Giants defeating the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.

That result meanwhile contributed to the Jets dropping the final three games of their season to end on 8-8, and they have since gone on a four year Playoffs hiatus.

Coming into this game the Giants are tied with the Washington Redskins atop the NFC East, but both teams have less than .500 records in a distinctly weak division this year. With just weeks of the regular season remaining, the Giants will know that if they can string together a number of wins to get up above .500 by the end of the season it may very well be enough to take the division title.

The Jets meanwhile are second in the AFC East on 6-5, and have no chance of catching the 10-1 New England Patriots at the top. But the Jets will be looking to sneak a Wild Card spot and end their postseason absence this year. If they lose today and fall back to .500 it will be a massive blow in those efforts, and they will be going all out to ensure that does not happen today.

Earlier this week, NFL Thursday Night Football saw the Green Bay Packers take on the Detroit Lions, and although it looked like the Lions had the game in the bag, a spectacular comeback in the second half by the Packers saw them take the spoils to move to 8-4.

Green Bay went in at the half way point without a point on the board and were behind by 17. But whatever they drank at halftime seemed to do the trick, as they came back out and piled on the points winning the third quarter 14-3 to pull the score back to 14-20. They then completed their comeback in the final quarter, scoring another 13 points with the Lions offense shut down and only able to score another three to leave the final score at 27-23.

The game winning play came in dramatic style, with Aaron Rodgers throwing a 61 yard touchdown to Richard Rodgers with no time left on the clock.

The result will be a relief for the Packers, who had lost four of their last five, and will be setback for the Lions, who had won three straight games coming into the game. They will be hugely disappointed to have missed out on the chance to sweep the series for the first time since 1991.

Anytime a team loses a 20 point lead it is a huge blow, but the nature of the loss and the opposition will make the defeat that much worse for Detroit.

The Packers left it late to make their charge, only scoring their first points with just 5.44 on the clock in the third quarter. But once they got into their rhythm there was no stopping them.

On the final play, the only reason the Packers had their final chance was because Devin Taylor grabbed Aaron Rodgers facemark. If he had not done that then the game would have been over, but because of that foul, Green Bay were given another chance, and Aaron Rodgers didn't need to be told twice. He launched a massive 61 yard Hail Mary pass, which came off to leave the Detroit fans stunned and the Packers fans in ecstasy.

Rodgers admitted after the game: "I've never had a completed Hail Mary before."

Rodgers finished the game with 26 of 36 for 289 yards and two touchdowns, compared to Matthew Stafford's 23 of 35 for 220 yards and two touchdowns.
