'NCIS' season 14 cast spoilers: newly added characters thrust into the spotlight

Sarah Clarke's FBI Special Agent Tess Monroe will be a vital part of "NCIS" season 14.CBS

Following Agent Tony DiNozzo's (Michael Weatherly) leave-taking, two new individuals step up to the plate to help the team gain some muscle in "NCIS" season 14.

When the most watched drama returns, it will without doubt put FBI Special Agent Tess Monroe (Sarah Clarke) and MI6 Agent Clayton Reeves (Duane Henry) in the front line.

Showrunner Gary Glasberg plans to integrate the newly introduced characters to the world fans came to know and love and fully develop them in "NCIS" season 14.

Although the series will not be the same without DiNozzo, who Weatherly portrayed for 13 years, the nature of the new characters introduced in the season 13 finale has Glasberg believing that "NCIS" will still look good.

"I feel like all of the elements are there that we can hopefully deliver on, to test and try and hopefully find the right fit," Glasberg told Deadline.

He added that he and his team are excited to explore "new perspectives" and change things up in "NCIS" season 4 with these new characters.

Clarke's character is portrayed as a wise-cracking fearless woman. This could ultimately find her in "NCIS" season 14 as the source of the quips and one-liners at the office now that DiNozzo is no longer around.

"I'd like to see more of that moving forward, however this works out," Glasberg said. As for Henry's character, he said, "there was a fun and a charm to Reeves, Duane Henry's character."

"Not to mention a tremendous physicality to his character. We certainly saw some of the action he was able to provide when he was chasing [the villain] Kort in the take-down scene of the finale," he continued.

Glasberg sees a lot of potential in picking all those up in "NCIS" season 14. But apart from the two new agents, the showrunner believes that even with DiNozzo gone, Gibbs (Mark Harmon) is still here and endless potentials could come from that.
