The NBC comedy series "Superstore" took a jab against Christianity in its recent episode titled "Wedding Day Sale" when one character suggested that Jesus Christ might be gay.

In that episode, religious store manager Glenn hires a gay employee named Mateo to create a special gay wedding section, according to News Busters.

"I just want everyone who comes into this store to feel accepted," explains Glenn. The sentiment is welcomed, but the conversation took a turn for the worse when Glenn and Mateo began talking about Jesus being pro-gay marriage and pro-gay adoption.

"You know, I have to say, you're much more open-minded than I thought," Mateo tells Glenn, to which he responds: "Thank you. People assume all Christians are homophobes. You know, that is ignorant. You can't imagine how hard it is being stereotyped."

He then says that Jesus went out of His way to accept everyone, and the two agree: "I think Jesus would've been pro-gay marriage," says Mateo. Glenn adds, "Absolutely. He would've been pro-gay adoption."

Mateo then quips, "For all we know, Jesus himself was gay."

That segment reportedly shocked Christian viewers.

Many film buffs have noticed how Hollywood has been poking fun at Christian values on both the small and big screen. "Lefty Hollywood loves poking its finger in the eye of Christians and disrespecting their religion. They think they're being edgy and provocative, but instead they're being lame and predictable," said Newsbusters writer Alexa Moutevelis Coombs.

"Hey Hollywood, you want to REALLY be edgy and provocative? Try airing a scene that has characters saying Muhammad would be pro-gay marriage, pro-gay adoption, and might even be gay. Let's see how that goes!" she added.

"Superstore" is a comedy that delves into the retail business and follows the lives of employees who struggle with company-issued smocks, bargain hunters, and door-buster sales.
