In what has been another celebration of real-life and game world parallels, 2K Sports has released an "All-Stars" update for its current hoops sim game "NBA 2K16."

As with other updates, the new expansion pack unlocked event-themed bonuses and items for players such as "All-Stars"-themed game jerseys, team rosters for East and West regions, and courts. Outside of the update, some of the items are available for purchase, such as the official "All-Stars"-themed jerseys, on the 2K Store.

However, there seems to be some in-game requirements for some of the items. According to Design & Trend, players who want to use the new jerseys for their characters will have to use a new game save, before the new items can be used in the MyLeague, MyGM, or MyCareer game modes.

Meanwhile, as if to underscore its own "All-Stars"-like atmosphere, the new "Road to the Finals" event kicked off for the North America region last Feb. 15. According to Fox Sports, the event will help elevate "NBA 2K16" to an eSport level, as the event promises $250,000 as tournament grand prize. Winners will also be able to get tickets to the NBA Finals.

According to the industry follower, this will be a good chance for "NBA 2K16" players to not only check out if they're good enough against other teams but to play and earn at the same time. "Road to the Finals" will have 16 events for the PS4 and Xbox One, and each console will have its own grand prize winner. This means that for five members on a team, the grand tournament team winner will net $50,000 per team member.

Prior to the "Road to the Finals" kick-off, 2K Sports also celebrated the All-Stars week for the NBA by launching discounts for both "NBA 2K16" game titles and in-game items, with as much as 50 percent off on digital copies through Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.
