Elliot Alderson (Rami Malek) will try to put the past behind him in the premiere episode of "Mr. Robot" season 2.

Speaking with USA Today, Malek revealed that his character will try to prevent himself from doing another mistake and causing more trouble after the massive hacking incident that he and fsociety ignited during the first season.

According to the actor, Elliot will use the court-ordered treatment for his mental illness as his opportunity to break free from Mr. Robot (Christian Slater), the imaginary person who recruited him to join the hacker group.

"He thinks that by controlling every aspect of his life, and exiling himself from anyone he cares about, this is the path to curing this very serious mental illness," the actor said.

But in the promo video for the premiere episode, Elliot is still being haunted by his inner demons. Mr. Robot, who happens to be a projection of his dead father, will continue to urge him to lead fsociety's battles with the multinational corporation Evil Corp.

Since Mr. Robot is just a figment of his imagination, Elliot must try to win over himself if he really wants to get rid of the demon inside his head. Or will he give in to Mr. Robot's demands and lead the fsociety from launching another massive attack?

According to series creator Sam Esmail, there will be no new antagonist or conflict to be introduced when the series returns on Wednesday, July 13. "

The second season is watching our characters struggle with the decisions they've made," the series creator said. "We're not rebooting or putting our characters on a new mission — we're continuing along the same arc."

The second season of "Mr. Robot" will introduce new characters who will be involved with Elliot, including Joey Bada$$ as his new close friend named Leon, Craig Robinson as his neighbor Ray and Chris Conroy as Joanna's (Stephanie Corneliussen) new lover Derek.
