Moto X 2013 Android 5.0 update delayed due to chipset?

While every Android phone user is anxious to see what the Android 5.0 Lollipop update brings to help improve their phones, Motorola users may have to wait a bit longer. The firmware update was originally released last October, 2014 and was something that even Motorola users will soon be getting.

However with almost five months gone by, there has been no sign of the said update. According to Android Geeks, there was one user who took it upon himself to try and find out if ever there was going to be a version made for the Moto X or Moto X 2013 despite early declarations that they would.

After sending a message via Twitter, user Ayan C was told that the update was not ready but that the update would arrive for the Moto X 2013. But it also further added that the reason for the delay was chipset which needed more work and hence a reason for the delay.

The Moto X is a device that has been struggling due to hardware issues. It runs on a dual processor in the Snapdragon S4 Pro. And that may indicate problems for the OS update which could technically not come at all.

On the other hand, the Moto X 2013 runs on an X8 Mobile Computing System which is a custom version of the Snapdragon S4 Pro from Qualcomm. It has four cores of Adreno 320 GPU and two other processors for other applications and two other less powered cores.

In all, the delay has been pinpointed to the chipset which could cause more problems than good if the Android 5.0 Lollipop would be released without proper testing. Hence, unless that issue is resolved by Motorola, the future looks bleak (for now) as far as seeing the Android 5.0 Lollipop rollout for the Moto X and Moto X 2013.
