'Mortal Kombat X' third patch 1.03 released

Barely a week after "Mortal Kombat X" was launched, it is already getting its third update.

Developer NetherRealm hopes that the newest update, patch 1.03, would address current issues that are being experienced by players, such as the log in issue on the PlayStation 4. The bug, CE-34878-0, causes PS4 players to repeatedly log in and log out before they can enter online matches.

Aside from the log in fix for the current-gen PlayStation players, the newest update fixes log in errors in the Sony Entertainment Network accounts, which are linked to the PS4. There were also fixes in the game's Krypt, particularly the switches, leaderboard scores, and other test fixes.

The patch also introduces an update to Easy Fatality purchases, where players can purchase a package that would make Fatality moves easier to execute during fights.

In addition, some players who logged in after the patch was released said that there was a change in the character selection screen. Now, there is a silhouetted space for Jason Vorhees, a DLC-exclusive character. Observers note that this seems to indicate that the character is to be added to the main roster sometime soon, making the "Friday the 13th" villain a playable character even outside the DLC expansion pack.

"Mortal Kombat X" was launched on April 14 for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC. A week after release, the newest installment in the "Mortal Kombat" game series is already reported to be the fastest selling game in the history of the franchise. According to a report by Gamespot, the title has been named as this year's second-fastest selling release, right behind Electronic Arts' "Battlefield: Hardline."

"Mortal Kombat X" is also scheduled to be ported to the older generation PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles in summer.
