Mikeschair recently teamed up with the Florida-based radio station Joy FM to send more than 27,000 new pairs of shoes to orphans in Guatemala.

This is the second time that the Christian band has partnered with Joy FM in the
"Shoes for Orphan Souls" programme.

Their hit song, “Keep Changing the World”, provided the theme song for the campaign and the band members not only helped to collect the shoes, but also delivered them in person to the orphans.

The number of shoes collected easily smashed last year's total of 7,000 for children in Peru.

Sam Tinnesz, lead guitarist for Mikeschair, commented, "I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the Guatemalan people and their rich culture. It was so humbling to get to wash the feet of orphans while sharing the love of Christ with them. I will never forget the joy on their faces when we handed them a new pair of shoes."

Tinnesz and fellow Mikeschair members Mike Grayson, Jesse Hale and Jon Haire were joined and led on the trip by Carmen Brown, morning show host of Joy FM, as well as some of the radio station's listeners.

The shoe outreach was sponsored by Buckner International Ministries and charitable organisation BeautifulFeet.org added to the campaign's success by agreeing to match every pair of shoes listeners donated, up to 12,000 pairs.

Mikeschair encouraged further generosity when they promised to perform at the church of the small group that donated the most shoes, spurring listeners to donate more than 15,000 shoes by the end of the campaign.
