The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 has proven to be one of the most versatile and successful tablet devices launched in 2015 and speculations are spreading concerning its successor, the Surface Pro 5. According to a report from Tech Radar, the Surface Pro 5 is expected to launch by October of this year at the latest.

This is based on the fact that the Surface Pro 4 launched in October 2015. If Microsoft stays consistent with their launch dates then it is likely that the Surface Pro 5 will be released during the same time frame and it is likely that Microsoft will again hold a special event to launch the new device to the public.

However, the report also points out that the Surface Pro 3 was launched in May 2014, with most models becoming available in June. This has many fans of the device lineup speculating that Microsoft may release the Surface Pro 5 anytime between June and October this year.

It is pointed out that an October release is more likely as this will give the company more time to focus on the production of the Surface Pro 5 to meet consumer demands when it is finally on the market. It will also allow the company to market the Surface Pro 4 for as long as possible, before its successor takes over the market space.

Very little is known about the Surface Pro 5 in terms of its supposed specs and features although one of the longest-running rumors is that it will ditch the current Surface Pen in favor of a new pen that uses a rechargeable battery. This pen can be locked into the Surface Pro 5 and be charged as it docks.

Given that it is an upgraded model it is also rumored to come with higher RAM, more storage space and a brand new processor such as the Intel Skylake-U processors and latest generation i5 or i7 processors.
