Ever since tech giant Microsoft released their successful Surface Pro 4, fans have been speculating about the release of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5, and rumors suggest that the Surface Pro 4 successor might just be unveiled at Microsoft's October event.

One thing that adds to the suspicion that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be launched this year is the delay of the major Windows 10 update until next spring due to a new hardware launch. Speculations suggest that the Windows OS will be delayed because of the Surface Pro 5, Surface Book 2, and the Surface PC that is expected to be announced on Oct. 26.

However, one report suggests that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will not be released this year, but will be unveiled sometime in 2017, especially since its predecessor, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 was just revealed approximately one year ago.

Despite the lack of official news from Microsoft as to what the Surface Pro 4's successor's specs and features could be, speculations suggest that the new Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will come out with the new Intel seventh generation core processor, the Kaby Lake.

If the Kaby Lake is to be integrated with the Microsoft Surface Pro 5, then this could mean that the upcoming Surface Pro 4 successor will be more battery efficient, a feature that would make the upcoming laptop significantly better than the Surface Pro 4.

The upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is also expected to come with the latest Windows 10 version, which is the Redstone 2. It is also expected to gain a boost in performance since it is rumored to be backed up by 4 GB of RAM.

Furthermore, as for the Surface 4 Pro successor's display, the laptop is rumored to sport a high-resolution 2K and 4K display powered by the latest Polaris graphics card. What's more is that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is said to follow the lead of other competing laptops with the integration of USB Type-C ports. It is rumored that the upcoming Microsoft laptop will be equipped with USB type C 3.1.

As of now, there is still no official news from Microsoft as to when the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be released, but speculations suggest that the laptop will be out in the market sometime in 2017 with a starting price tag of $899 USD.
