Microsoft is raring to take on the tablet computer world — which is currently being dominated by the likes of the Apple iPad Pro — with its upcoming new 2-in-1 tablet, the Microsoft Surface Pro 5. While the company has not yet officially announced the specifics about its new Surface Pro device, several reports have revealed that it could be quite the contender and that it might very well be able to knock down its main competitors, Apple and Samsung.

The company recently released a brand new Microsoft Surface Pro 4 ad which poked fun at Apple's claims of the iPad Pro being a "computer." The ad itself highlighted how the Surface Pro was a more capable device in terms of performance since it can also run programs like the full version of MS Office and not just its app counterpart.

The ad also showed off the Surface's trackpad and its numerous external ports, both of which are absent on the iPad Pro. While the ad itself was aimed at promoting the current Surface Pro device, some reports are claiming that its successor will be an entirely different beast, thanks to several new upgrades.

According to the latest rumors, the upcoming new Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will likely be coming with the latest Intel Kaby Lake CPU. The new processor will not only boost the tablet's performance exponentially- it will also increase the device's battery life. The device is also rumored to include a full 4K display that will make it a strong contender against Apple and Samsung's offerings.

The Surface Pro 5 is also rumored to be getting a whopping 16 GB of RAM and an AIO graphics processor. As for the Software, the device will likely be coming with the company's latest Windows 10 update, dubbed the Redstone 2 OS update.

As of the moment, reports have pegged that the device will be launched next month and then made publicly available sometime in 2017.
