With Microsoft Surface Pro 4, which is rumored to be released on Oct. 6,  a month after the release of Apple's iPad Pro as a direct answer to the latter device, consumers are pondering what this new gadget will bring in the market. But without no official news regarding the specifications of the soon to be released Surface Pro 4 except for speculations, people are wondering how it will stack up to Surface Pro 3 and iPad Pro.

Here is a comparison of Microsoft Surface Pro and Apple's iPad Pro compared to the rumored specs of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4.

Apple's iPad Pro still has the biggest display by far, with a 12.9-inch screen and 2732 x 2048 resolution. Although Microsoft Surface Pro 3 has a smaller screen and lower resolution, some might find it more manageable than the iPad Pro due to its 11.5 x 7.9-inch built. But considering the weight, iPad Pro is still lighter at 1.57 pounds and thinner at .27 inches. If the rumor about Surface Pro having display screen of 12 to 14 inches is true, it will trump iPad Pro's title on the display but not on its resolution (Surface Pro 4 is rumored to retain its 2160 x 1440, same as the Surface Pro3).

When it comes to processing power, iPad Pro seems to take the lead but with Microsoft Surface Pro 4 rumored to use Intel Core M Broadwell CPU or the new Skylake chipset, although things could easily change.

When it comes to features, although both devices have an option for detachable keyboards, Surface Pro 3 seems to be a strong contender with its built in stylus, kickstand, and its time-tested Windows 10 Pro OS. As for the Surface Pro 4, not much has been said about it yet.

Over-all, Apple's iPad Pro is still a strong contender. However, with a new kid on the block soon, things can easily go the way of the upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro 4.
