With Shabazz Napier already shipped, another guard whom the Miami Heat are actively offering is Mario Chalmers.

The long-time guard has been on the block for some time now, as the Heat continue to look at moves that would help them avoid the dreaded luxury tax penalty.

Make no mistake about it, Chalmers can still hold up in the NBA. But the thing is, the Heat is not the place to be especially with Goran Dragić and Dwyane Wade expected to hound up all the playing time next season.

With a $4.3 million annual paycheck, the Heat know the savings they could get by sending Chalmers somewhere else and replacing him with a less expensive guard for probably the NBA minimum.

Only he and Chris Andersen are left on the roster of players whom the Heat are planning to trade. Between the two, Chalmers is more likely to draw interest due to his age and the things he can do at the point.

For his part, Chalmers has accepted his fate and knows that everything happening to him right now is really part of the business.

"For me, I don't really think about it," Chalmers said. "I try to control what I can control, and I'm just working on me and my game. I would definitely love to stay in Miami. I think we have a good chance this year to go all the way. It's just bringing everything together," he added.

The worst case scenario is, of course, seeing the Heat keeping Chalmers. But for the Heat to seriously consider that is perhaps through training camp. If Chalmers proves valuable, even if he may be reduced to a backup role, then Miami could reconsider.

On his salary, well, the Heat could opt to pull a few strings such as maybe restructuring his contract or even cutting off other players in his favor. Such seems a bit complicated but, as stressed, is the worst case scenario.
