Methodist Africa University Graduates Largest Class in History



The United Methodist Church (UMC)-related Africa University in Zimbabwe celebrated its 11th graduation ceremony with the largest graduating class in the institution’s history, May 28.

"I'm almost without words to describe how I feel," said Pipa Ferraz de Liberdade Nazare, one of the students graduating with a Bachelor of Divinity degree, to the UMC news. "Leaving this place is a big achievement in my life."

According to the news service, the hundreds of people who came to the celebration "filled every inch of the open-air venue."

Africa University is pan-african in nature and offers the growing African Christian community a chance for formal educational training in agriculture, economics and theology. The 391 graduating students came from 14 African countries - Angola, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
