'Me Before You' trailer launches online - what to expect

Me Before YouMGM, Warner Bros. Pictures

Actress Emilia Clarke, most famous for her role as Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO series "Game of Thrones," will star in the upcoming romantic flick "Me Before You" alongside lead actor Sam Claflin. As reported by Entertainment Weekly, fans can now get a glimpse of the two together in the film's very first official trailer.

The trailer, which also showcases actors Jenna Coleman, Charles Dance, Matthew Lewis and Brendan Coyle, starts off by showing the different kinds of lives the two leads play.

Clarke portrays the optimistic Louisa "Lou" Clark, who jumps from job to job to support her family. According to the report, she failed as both a beautician and as a chicken factory worker before becoming a caregiver. Claflin plays Will, a man now in a wheelchair and had promised his parents he would "hold out" for another six months before finally pulling the plug on his own life.

At first the two do not get together all that well and there are scenes of Will giving Lou a difficult time. However, as seen in the trailer, this eventually changes as they develop feelings for each other and Will admits that Lou has become his sole purpose in living.

"No longer the adventurous soul he once was, the now cynical Will has all but given up," reads the official plot synopsis from Screen Rant. "That is until Lou determines to show him that life is worth living. Embarking together on a series of adventures, both Lou and Will get more than they bargained for, and find their lives -- and hearts -- changing in ways neither one could have imagined."

Fans of the original novel by Jojo Moyes will be aware of how the plot unfolds and how the ending plays out but as with every adaptation, this film will likely see some deviation in order to spin a story more appicable for the big screen.

"Me Before You" opens in theaters this June 3.
