'Mass Effect: Andromeda' updates: Bioware shows off new visual upgrade

Game company Bioware has been updating fans about every landmark they hit as they shape up "Mass Effect Andromeda" into the space shooter fans want it to be. In the latest update, the studio showed how making the game for the new-generation consoles is the ultimate milestone. 

Bioware is proud of how far the intergalactic adventure franchise has come in terms of visual quality. "Mass Effect" producer Michael Gamble recently sent out a photo on Twitter that compares the graphics and detail of "Mass Effect: Andromeda" with its predecessor, "Mass Effect 3."  

"Technology has opened up so many doors for us," Gamble captioned the photo. "For comparison, doing this scene in engine vs CG for ME3."

This is due to the improvement of the in-game engine used for the flagship title.

In a behind-the-scenes footage following the making of "Mass Effect: Andromeda," lead level designer Colin Campbell talked about "building new worlds" and everything that's taken into account. 

"If you're making a big RPG, like we're making, they are big moving beasts so you need a team that is capable of taking vision from high up and populating it out to a game that in a lot of cases devs won't see the parts of it," Campbell explained in the video. "You need to have a really good team that has really good communication, I might tell a level designer that we need to make a level where we're feeling like we are entrenched, pushing people back from all angles, we want that kind of feeling."  

Unfortunately, "Mass Effect: Andromeda" will be skipping this year's gamescom, according to Segment Next. The comprehensive look of the game won't likely be provided until it is released next year.
