Manny Pacquiao next fight with Floyd Mayweather to finally happen in 2015?

If the extremely-hyped mega fight between phenomenal boxing stars Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao holds a glorious place in the future, fans and boxing enthusiasts hope it to be in the 2015 timeframe.

Even the Filipino boxing champ himself has his "fingers crossed" to have the warfare finally settled inside the ring next year and that the pound for pound king's flawless record to be tainted. However, before Showtime and HBO (which were reportedly discussing the prizefight arrangements) shake their hands in agreement for the mammoth clash between the rivals to finally ensue, Manny Pacquiao has to get past undefeated American boxer and WBO title holder Chris Algieri on Nov. 22 in Macau.

"I'm crossing my fingers - hopefully that fight will happen by next year," Pacquiao said when asked about the possibility of a Pacquiao-Mayweather bout in a promotional event in Hong Kong. "Right now my mind is already set to focus on my next fight with Chris Algieri. I think the time to talk about that issue is after the fight."

Of course, the 35-year-old fighter has to snag the triumph from Algieri next month. If not, the super fight can just go down the drain that easy. Fighting Saga pointed out how much of a downgrade the "super" fight will suffer in the event Pacquiao gets whitewashed by his contender.

Meanwhile, Mayweather has only two bouts left to settle before he goes to retirement. The undefeated combatant has won his most recent fight against  Marcos Maidana via unanimous decision in September. To complete his six-fight contract with Showtime, Mayweather has to battle two more opponents, one in May and the final one to take place in September. While the particular challengers are not locked in yet, fans can't help but wish for Mayweather to explosively end his boxing endeavors with Pacquiao in what can be considered as one of the greatest match-ups in history.

Recently, Floyd Mayweather Sr. declared via Fight Hype that the big fight will take place, only to be slammed by his son soon after.

"It's gonna happen. That fight's gonna happen. Trust me," Floyd Mayweather Sr. asserted. "It's the biggest fight that has ever been in life, so like I said, man, that fight's gonna happen."

Meanwhile, in spite of the poor mega fight odds, online betting sites have offered betting lines for the unconfirmed Mayweather-Pacquiao clash. It is noteworthy though that the practice is that these sites only provide betting lines on forthcoming fights. Nevertheless, Mayweather is the one favored between the two.
