Manny Pacquiao vs Amir Khan fight 2016 news, rumors: Comeback bout against Khan?

Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao is currently recovering from a right shoulder injury and while he claims to be clueless on whether he would be retiring or boxing some more, it seems that chants for the latter are more likely.

There is that lingering plan to hold a Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao II though some people are apprehensive considering the way the first one went. Both fighters got a tongue-lashing from the fans in the aftermath of the so-called Fight of the Century hence making a sequel unlikely.

Just the same, one man seems to be getting a lot of attention from this debacle, a guy named Amir Khan.

Khan is someone being considered to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September though he still has to get past Chris Algier first on May 29, 2015 before even thinking about it.

Khan was reportedly approached by Team Mayweather and there is a big chance that both fighter will finally face-off after a first planned fight back in May of 2014 never materialized.

But the buck doesn't seem to stop there with word that Khan is also being lined up to face Pacquiao next year when the Filipino boxer-lawmaker fully heals from his shoulder injury. Word has it that Middle East backers are pushing for a Pacquiao-Khan match early next year and such could ensue over a Mayweather vs. Pacquiao tiff.

It will be recalled that before Mayweather agreed to face Pacquiao, Khan was waiting on the wings to be the PacMan's next opponent.

Khan and Pacquiao are former sparring partners and plans for their bout came out as early as January of this year. The fight would have ironically been held as well in Dubai but was eventually shelved when Mayweather finally agreed to face Pacquiao last May.

With this development, it doesn't look like Pacquiao is retiring any time soon and it will be interesting to see how the PacMan returns with a fully healed shoulder and of course a crippling and controversial loss in the eyes of many to Floyd Mayweather Jr.
