There has been little to no word about "Left 4 Dead 3" as there hasn't been an update from game developer Valve about the much-anticipated title. This has prompted many fans to wonder whether the game would be released at all. Since "Left 4 Dead" and "Left 4 Dead 2" were released only a year of each other, the third installment's delay has been a favorite topic among its fans, which resulted in speculations making the rounds on the Internet.

Last year, "Counter Strike" co-creator Minh Le said in an interview that the game is in development, but after that initial revelation, Valve has been silent about the game's progress.

Now, a game insider has reportedly spoken about the upcoming game. Master Herald reports that the source, who claims to be a former Valve employee, has decided to share "Left 4 Dead 3" details because he reportedly sympathizes with fans who are frustrated with the lack of news about the game.

The game is said to be a prequel to "Left 4 Dead 2" and that it will be set one month after the infection started to spread. The game will allegedly have four new survivors and six campaigns.

The source claims that that the four new survivors include Irvin, an African American "gangster"; Katherine, a 24-year old Caucasian woman; Keenan, a comic book enthusiast; and Garrett Jr., a famous Kenpo fighter in the "Left 4 Dead" world.

The game will reportedly have six campaigns, named Crash-land, Impasse, Inquisitor Land, Early Destination, Cliff-Hanger, and No Mercy. The source added that the title will have a backpack system, which will allow each character to carry one specific item only.

As for the release date, the former employee reportedly said that Valve's other upcoming title, "Half Life 3," is not in active development because the company allegedly wants to focus on the release of "Left 4 Dead 3." As initial reports claim that "Half Life 3" could be out in late 2017 or early 2018, it is speculated that the "Left 4 Dead 3" can be out in late 2016 or early 2017.

These, however, must be taken with a grain of salt until Valve makes an official announcement.
