LA Lakers NBA 2015 draft news, rumors: Second overall draft pick plus Carmelo Anthony for Julius Randle?

The Los Angeles Lakers are keeping their pick for the coming NBA 2015 Draft but general manager has not completely shut out trade possibilities involving it. If any deal would be consummated, it could happen on NBA Draft Night.

Of course, it doesn't shut down the door as well on possibilities leading to the NBA Draft.

The Lakers are reportedly not sold on the no. 2 pick and one team has been known to be aching to get it. The team is no other than the New York Knicks who had a good chance of snagging the 2nd overall pick. Unfortunately it didn't happen and has left Phil Jackson and the Knicks frowning.

But here is something interesting to think about. How much do the Knicks really want to get the second draft opportunity in the coming NBA Draft? Would they be willing to trade it plus a sophomore on the Lakers' fold in exchange for their current franchise player, Carmelo Anthony?

The sophomore in mention is Julius Randle who the Lakers got last year. Randle saw his season cut short when he went down to injury but should be up and ready by next season.

With a combination of Randle and the no. 2 pick on the table, would the Knicks be willing to part with Carmelo Anthony just in case?

The Knicks, like the Lakers, are frantically rebuilding and were looking forward to be among the top five picks. While they will pick at no. 4, it seems that Jackson and the Knicks were hoping to be among the top two.

If a deal such as this would come their way, would Jackson bite?

If so then the Lakers would eventually land with Anthony, the same player they tried convincing to suit up for the Lakers in the last offseason. Anthony settled to stay with the Knicks but now the idea should be something interesting.

Will this be something of interest to the Knicks? Will they be willing to go on without Anthony in tow and rebuild with a younger new group?
