Christian actor and producer Kirk Cameron urged mothers to stay encouraged during the holidays in a recent post on his Facebook page.

Cameron made a video discussing "how irreplaceable" wives and mothers are to their families during the Christmas season.

"If you are a mum, if you are a wife, if you're the keeper of your home, I want you to know that your joy is so important this Christmas," he said. "Because Christmas is about joy and if the joy of the Lord is your strength, remember, the joy of the mom is her children's strength, so don't let anything steal your joy. If you let your joy get stolen, it will sap your strength."

The 44-year-old husband and father of six also encouraged women to share their joy with not just their families, but their communities as well.

"Let your children, your family, see your joy in the way you decorate your home this Christmas, in the food that you cook, the songs you sing, the stories you tell, and the traditions that you keep," Cameron continued. "Invite your whole neighbourhood into your Christmas and invite the world into our story of our king and his kingdom."

Cameron starred in and executive produced the recently released "Saving Christmas" – an uplifting story about the true meaning of Christmas. He said that the trivialisation of the holiday inspired him to bring the movie to life.

"My hope for 'Saving Christmas' is that families all across the country will join with my family in putting Christ back into Christmas!" Cameron said in a statement.

"For too many years Christmas has been attacked and hammered by those outside the church, and it's even changed how we think about Christmas inside the church. We are proudly going to put Christ back into Christmas and remind Christians why this is not only a holy day, but a celebration as well."

"Saving Christmas" is currently playing in a limited engagement. To find a theater near you, visit SavingChristmas.com.
