Gunmen shot dead a Kenyan opposition politician at his home overnight, an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) spokesman said on Tuesday.

"He was shot at his house. The current situation makes one suspicious. All fingers will point at the government, and the government will have to show it is not involved," spokesman Tony Gachoka said of the newly elected legislator Melitus Were, who represented Nairobi's Embakasi district.
