Katy Perry Roar MTV VMA 2013 Performance VIDEO: Debuts new song under Brooklyn Bridge

Katy Perry performed at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards tonight with her first single titled "Roar" from her upcoming album "Prism," which is scheduled to release Oct. 22. 2013.

Perry closed the MTV VMAs with a performance of her latest single from under the iconic Brooklyn Bridge after Justin Timberlake won the Video of the Year award for "Mirrors."

Perry has not performed at the MTV VMAs since 2009 when she rocked to "We Will Rock You" with guitarist Joe Perry.

Perry rose to fame with her single "I Kissed a Girl" from her second studio album "One of the Boys" in 2008.

The 28-year-old became the first female artist in history to produce five number-one hits from her third studio album in 2010 titled "Teenage Dream." "California Gurls,""Teenage Dream," "Firework," E.T.," and "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) all hit topped the Billboard 100 chart. In 2012, Perry reissued the abum as "Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection" which included another number one single, "Part of Me."

Perry's fourth album, "Prism" will include collaborations with Sia Furler, Dr. Luke, Max Martin, and Bonnie McKee. In addition to "Roar," other songs set to feature in the album are "Double Rainbow," "Bad Photographs," "It Takes Two," "Unconditional," "Dark Horse," and "Walking on Air."

Perry has received nine Grammy nominations for her music. Her single "Fireworks" won the Video of the Year category at the 2011 MTV VMAs. She was also named Woman of the Year by at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards.
