American contemporary Christian singer Kari Jobe just revealed on Facebook the story behind "Hands to the Heavens," a song she hopes will help people submit completely to God.

"This is a song of surrender and invitation. Lifting up our hands in worship is an act of surrender to the Lord," she wrote. "This song helps to set a tone at the beginning of a worship service to remind us of what happens when His presence fills a room."

She explained that the song also talks about Christians who look up to the Lord and trust in Him to see them through their worst times. "It is powerful for us to declare truth, what we desire of the Lord, and to have an expectancy that His presence will come and be welcomed in our worship, whether personal or corporate," she said.

And once the worship gathering takes place and people connect to God, wonders happen, according to the singer.

"There's an amazing exchange that can happen in worship - heaviness and shame broken off, and His goodness, peace, and life rushing in. We worship a mighty God who comes to inhabit our praises," she gushes.

The singer also shared the verse Isaiah 25:9 - "Behold, this is our God; We have waited for Him, and He will save us. This is the Lord; We have waited for Him; We will be glad and rejoice in His salvation."

"Hands to the Heavens" came from Jobe's third album Majestic. On her website, she said that each song from the album represents a piece of her heart and it is through the act of worship that she manages to feel God's presence more than ever.

"Worship, for me, has always been such a rescue place in my life," she said. "When you get down to the very bare bones of worship, it is about us being thankful for the cross and magnifying the name of Jesus above all names. Anything past that is just feel-good music."
