The devil loves nothing more than to put Christians down, and this is why he plays mind tricks on people.

Even popular Christian speaker and author Joyce Meyer has admitted that she once fell prey to his traps, making her blame herself for the sexual abuse she endured at the hands of her own father.

"The devil convinced me there must be something wrong with me, for him to want to do that to me," Meyer admitted in a recent sermon.

Because none of her friends were going through the same ordeal she was facing, she was led to believe that "there must be something wrong with me."

"And that's what most children do if they are not treated right," she said.

"That's exactly what the devil wants us to do," Meyer then warned.

Thankfully, Meyer said she found God and He was able to fix the broken pieces of her childhood. "Well, I had a record playing in my head for most of my life 'What's wrong with me?' And I think it's so amazing [that] the first thing Jesus wants to give us is something right," she said.

With His help, Meyer said the gullible young girl who was raped and emotionally scarred by her father was buried in Christ. With Jesus' salvation, she has become a new person.

"That little girl that was abused by her father years ago, for so many years, I could drag her up if I wanted to, but the point is, she's dead and buried in Christ, and a new creature rose up in her place," she said.

Meyer urges Christians to also let go of their own guilt and heartaches so they can move forward in God's glory. "When you are ashamed of who you are, you can never be successful in anything in life," she said.
