Who would've thought that 19 Kids and Counting star Jill Duggar's husband Derick Dillard would be such a "pro" at fatherhood?

We already guessed Jill would be a great mother, given her vast experience as a midwife and taking care of so many younger Duggar siblings. What's more, Jill has changed countless number of diapers while Derick had no clue how to handle a baby, much more change its diaper.

But once he got his hands on their son Israel David, it felt like Derick had been changing diapers his entire life, and his wife could not be more proud.

Jill told PEOPLE that Derick is "doing amazing at being a dad," and shared how he expertly gave their son his first bath and then burped him.

"I have a really steep learning curve," Derick said. "But I think I'm catching on fast!" However, all the hard work and excitement has finally caught up to the new dad, and he joked that he no longers knows if it is day or night.

"I'm a little bit exhausted," he admitted.

As for Jill, the Duggar family reports that she and the baby are "both doing wonderful." She gave birth to Baby Dilly a day after her second due date, which was set on April 5. Her original due date was on March 24, but Baby Dilly refused to arrive on time.

Despite his late arrival, Jill was not the least bit worried. She earlier told PEOPLE that she was "planning on the baby coming late, no big deal – if you have it in your head that way, you won't get discouraged."

The Dillard couple initially planned on a home birth, but things did not go as planned and Jill gave birth to Baby Dilly in the hospital.
