James Cameron is currently pushing to film three "Avatar" films back-to-back but a new report from HeyUGuys indicate that the Academy Award-winning director may push for expansion, eventually leading to an "Avatar 5." 

James Horner, music composer and longtime collaborator with Cameron, sat down with HeyUGuys for an interview and eventually started discussing James Cameron's work with "Avatar." When the discussion got to the sequels, Horner hinted that Cameron may film four sequels instead of just three.

"Right now Jim has... four sequels script-wise, and he's trying to make it into three," explained Horner. "And that is where his effort is going right now, to keep it to three sequels. Because he's got so much going on... trying to keep it from expanding into a fifth movie".

With that said it is possible that Cameron may trim the story down in order to stick with the planned three sequels. A fourth sequel may cost the production studios too much money, even if the films have the potential to earn over a billion dollars each. $1 Billion may even be considered a flop for Cameron, given that the first "Avatar" grossed $2.7 Billion worldwide.

The first sequel, "Avatar 2," was scheduled to begin production this 2015 in order to make a 2016 release date and the other two films would be released in 2017 and 2018. However, the Collider reported last January that the projects were pushed a year back because Cameron was still refining his work on the screen plays.

"We've had a couple of years to think through the story arc of the next three films, and every day that goes by, I believe in the stories I'm telling more and more," said Cameron back in January. "We're not coming out of the block fast to capitalize on the last film."

It may be possible that even more time may be needed given that he has to either trim down the work in order to fit three films or add more material to justify a fourth sequel.
