Some people think that during times of trial and challenge, God suddenly takes a holiday and leaves us alone. But Jesus promised us before leaving earth that He would be with every believer until the very end of the age.

Have you ever felt distant from God? Were you ever up to your neck in difficult circumstances that made you feel that God was far away? If you have then welcome to the club. We've all felt like God abandons us every now and then. In Deuteronomy 31:8, God promised Israel saying, "It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed." That promise is the same promise that God gives to every single one of us today.

It can sometimes feel that when trials come, that God deliberately leaves us on our own and can even mean well by doing so to teach us to be independent. But that is far from the truth. God wants us to build dependence towards Him at all times. Even in times of hardships, God is there sustaining your spirit, giving you wisdom and providing a way out for you.

Sometimes we may think that God abandons us because of our sin. It's true that because of sin, man has been separated from God and separated from His presence, but even in those times, God makes His grace and provision to fall on us. Matthew 5:45 tells us, "For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust."

Romans 8:38-39 tells us, "For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."

In any time, good and bad, Jesus never leaves our side. He stands by us when we experience financial struggles, persecutions, sickness, hurt, work stress, relational dysfunctions and any problem that may come our way. He is a present help in times of trouble, and a tower we can rely on for safety when we feel unsafe.

It is only through Jesus that we are sustained in even the harshest times, and we can rely on His presence in our life to give us the tenacity and perseverance to fight and win the battle through Him. We can rely on God and still depend on Him even through the toughest of trials. We don't have to face trouble alone because God is always by our side, even in the times we feel that He is far away.  So don't believe what your head is telling you or what your heart is feeling, believe in the words of God when He says He is with us until the end of time.
