iPhone 6 release date: 5.5 inch screen phablet dubbed as 6L

Is this the real version of iPhone 6?Facebook

Two versions of the rumored iPhone 6 models emerged this week, and one of them seemed to have a larger 5.5-inch screen compared to the other one, said to be dubbed as the iPhone 6L.

The Asian-based gadget rumor site Apple Daily posted the alleged photos of the two models of the iPhone 6, which is expected to be released this fall. One of the models has a 4.7-inch screen, while the bigger one will feature a 5.5-inch screen.

Earlier reports called the larger iPhone 6 model as the iPhone "Air" or iPhone "L".

Apple Daily also divulged some of the alleged specs of the rumored iPhone 6, including a 2,915 (mAh) battery for the 6L as well as a 1,810 mAh battery for the smaller version.

Several reports mentioned that the alleged iPhone 6 phablet may not be released until the later part of the year or even in the first quarter of 2015, but the smaller 4.7-inch version is still set to be offered to the public in its original fall schedule this year.

Taiwan-based website Manager Online announced in a report that Secretary General Takorn Tantasith of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) proclaimed that his office had granted two new models of iPhone 6 for distribution in the country. The report also mentioned that the devices were endorsed last August 8, with model number A1586 as well as A1524.

Another website called BGR said that they have learned the "best proof yet" that the new iPhone 6 models will be released this coming fall. The report said, "Apparently, Apple requested that the documents remain secret, but government regulations require that the information be made available to the public. Unfortunately, any details regarding the specifications of the two iPhone 6 models or the quantity of units being shipped to Thailand were kept under wraps, but we have to assume that the A1586 and A1524 are the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch devices we've read so much about over the past few months."

Other spec rumors for iPhone 6 include having Near Field Communication (NFC) that will allow the device to have easier mobile payments, an Apple A8, Touch ID, and a better camera functions. The colors of the models to be released will be the same as those provided in iPhone 5S models (Gold, Silver, and Space Gray), which have also been mentioned in earlier leaks. The device is set to be released at a purported media event on September 3.
