iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus pre-orders began Friday, and it looks like it's off to a rocky start.  One carrier already advised consumers of delay in shipping.

Apple Store, carriers and retailers are finally accepting pre-orders of the new Apple smartphones. However, due to the sudden surge of orders, the web sites of Apple Store and the carriers were down for at least two hours after the supposed start of the preorder.

The Apple Store was down until 2 a.m. although pre-orders began at midnight. Some customers used the Apple's iOS store app in placing their orders. The problem is the availability of the handsets, which was limited in the app after the pre-orders begun.

Sprint and T-Mobiles also experienced some technical problems as their websites were still down two hours after the slated start time. Access to Sprint's website was an annoyance to some customers placing their orders, as the website's availability was intermittent. T-Mobile's web site, on the other hand, continued to post the reminder when the pre-orders began.

AT&T and Verizon Wireless started taking orders without a hitch, although some consumers posted complaints on Twitter. Buyers may opt to place their orders on various retailers such as Best Buy, RadioShack, Sam's Club, Target, and Walmart.

On the other hand, Verizon Wireless already advised their consumers of a delay in shipping. The 16GB iPhone 6 space gray and gold variants will be delivered on Oct. 14, which is nearly a month later than the Sept. 19 launch. The 64GB and 128GB models are bound to arrive on Oct. 7. AT&T offers the iPhone 6 Plus with ship dates from 14 to 21 business days.

The 16GB variant of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus will be available in Sept. 19 in 115 countries, starting at $199 and $299, respectively.
