An analyst is keeping the hopes of Apple's fans up by claiming that the rumored 12.9-inch iPad Pro will be released in spring and that the tech giant is also working on an iPhone 6S mini with a 4-inch screen display.

According to Cowen and Company analyst Timothy Arcuri in his note to investors, Apple is working on the iPad Pro in order to "reinvigorate" the line. Although Apple's iPad is claimed to have been dominating the tablet market for years, there has been an overall decline in the tablet sales.

Reports state that the iPad Pro will be a laptop-tablet hybrid because of its huge screen size. The tablet can be transformed into a laptop as it will reportedly come with a detachable keyboard. The device will aim for the business sector with apps focusing on business and entertainment.

Apart from a 12-inch screen, the iPad Pro is rumored to pack an A8X or A9 processor paired with 4 GB of RAM. The tablet will run with iOS 8 or iOS 9 and will be available in 16 GB/ 64 GB/ 128 GB internal storage variants. The device will also have an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera, as well as a Touch ID fingerprint sensor.

Arcuri also said that Apple is working on the iPhone 6S mini, which is an iPhone 6 variant with a 4-inch screen and lower specs and features. The analyst added that the smartphone will come with features similar to the iPhone 5S.

With this rumor, Apple is claimed to offer three handsets next year while axing the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C in the smartphone line-up. If rumors prove to be true, Apple may announce the successors of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus as well as the mid-range iPhone 6S. Launching three smartphone is normal since Apple's rivals do it most of the time. This is for the purpose of catering to all segments of the market.

However, nothing is set in stone since Apple has not announced anything official yet.
