Apple is planning to expand its iPad flagship line up with an even larger tablet, and it will come with stereo speakers, too.

If leaked images are to be believed, the apparently 12-inch Apple tablet dubbed by observers as the iPad Pro will sport stereo speakers on the top and bottom of the device. Sonny Dickson, who have also leaked various Apple images in the past, in his website has posted images of apparent iPad Pro cases that seem to reiterate the reported design and specs of the upcoming device.

According to rumors, the new tablet from Apple will have a 12- to 12.9-inch display that will have a 2732 x 2048 resolution at 265 ppi density and will be housed within an aluminum material same as with the Apple Watch Sport, making it strong yet light. The larger display and stronger housing is to entice businesspeople over to the new Apple product, as reports of Microsoft brewing a new Surface Pro are making their rounds within the tech community.

Aside from the larger display, the new iPad will also change connectivity, from the proprietary Lightning port on the bottom edge to a more universal USB-C port on the side. This would allow the new iPad to transfer data faster and charge power much quicker.

There are rumors that the new iPad will showcase a newer version, A9 chipset. However, the reports that the iPad Pro is expected to use a much upgraded tri-core A8x processor with at least 2 GB of RAM seems much closer to the truth. If that is the case, it will place the new iPad closer to that of the iPad Air 2 in terms of speed. Moreover, the new iPad will retain the same Touch ID and wireless 802.11ac connectivity as its predecessor.

The new iPad is expected to arrive in the third quarter of this year.
