iPad Air 3 release date: Will the tablet surface at WWDC 2016?

Will Apple release a successor to the iPad Air 2?Apple

When Apple delivered the second iPad Pro, the 9.7-inch version, fans were a little bit disappointed, thinking that the company has probably killed the iPad Air series. But since there is no formal announcement, many are still hoping that the iPad Air 3 will show up at the upcoming WWDC 2016 event.

Numerous Apple events have passed and there is still no sign of the iPad Air 3. Fans are now thinking that the company may choose to release successor of its tablet  in a two-year increment, and may feature the next Air tablet by September or October this year. Vine Report mentioned that there are speculations that the upcoming WWDC will focus more on the software side of the company, and that no new hardware announcement is expected to be made. But fans can't take away the thought that the tablet may also show up next week.

MacWorld reported that there are several features being speculated for the upcoming tablet, like the Smart Connector, similar to the iPad Pro, and the Smart Keyboard. However, battery capacity will play an important role in the latter feature. The keyboard accessory draws power from the battery, and the iPad Pro contains an ample amount of it because of its size, and the iPad Air 3 may not have enough battery juice to make it last long.

The iPad Air 3 is also rumored to be thinner than its predecessor. Fans already know how thin the last one is, but still, they are hoping for this. A 7000-series aluminum is expected to be the material used on its chassis, the same material used on the iPhone 6 and 6s Plus.  More color options are expected to arrive as well.

Additionally, the Apple Pencil is expected to work flawlessly for the next iteration of the iPad Air. The smaller iPad Pro got the stylus working, so this might be featured in upcoming tablet models.

The Worldwide Developer Conference 2016 is set to happen from June 13 to 17 in San Francisco.
