iPad Air 2 vs Galaxy Tab S 10.5 comparison: Apple or Samsung tablet to buy in fall?

Apple and Samsung are rivals in the tech market as they release devices that match up to each other. The companies will be engaged in another battle later this fall.

This time, the two will face each other in the tablet arena. The tablet market has long been dominated by Apple with its iPad line. However, it seemed that Samsung wants to have a bite on Apple's sales as it released its own powerful slab of metal – Samsung Galaxy Tab S. The tablet line is composed of a 8.4 incher and a 10.5 incher. Below is the comparison of iPad Air 2 and the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5.

Screen Display

The full-fledged Samsung Galaxy Tab S packs a 10.5" Super AMOLED screen with 2,560 x 1,600 pixel resolution compared to iPad Air 2's supposed 9.7 inch screen size with 2K display resolution.

Processor

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 will come with Exynos Octa 5422: quad-core Cortex-A15 @ 1.9GHz plus quad-core Cortex-A7 @ 1.3GHz; Mali-T628 MP6 GPU; 3GB RAM for the Wi-Fi variant; and Snapdragon 800, quad-core Krait 400 @ 2.3GHz; 3GB RAM for the LTE model. Meanwhile, the iPad Air 2 will pack the next generation A8 processor.

Operating System

Samsung's new powerful tablet will run with the Android 4.4 KitKat, while iPad Air 2 will obviously run with the recently announced iOS 8.

Camera

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 sports an 8MP main camera and 2.1MP front-facing camera. Meanwhile, iPad Air 2 will also sport the same shooters but with improved OIS and camera software.

Storage

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S is available in 16GB and 32GB built-in storage with microSD card slot of up to 128GB external storage. iPad Air 2, on the other hand, is rumored to come in 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB.

Battery

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 will come with 7,900 mAh battery, while the iPad Air 2 was speculated to come with a battery with a capacity up to 12 hours while browsing.
